• Timelines and family trees

There are so many backstories and histories included in the Twilight Saga that it has been difficult for fans, at times, to get the precise timelines in order. However, The Guide spells it all out, once and for all. Also included are family trees for several of the characters, and this is useful for the same purpose. These sections effectuate The Guide’s purpose, which was to bring new information to fans who are intrigued by the finer details.

• Coven information

Each coven introduced in the Twilight series is given special treatment as an entity all its own. Through these portions, new information about the foundation and interests of the various groups are found. These new stories are rich and shed light on some aspects of the Saga novels which we might not have seen before. For instance, the big dispute between the Volturi and the Romanians is given all new light by the history of the same, and it is learned that Demetri was originally a member of the Egyptian Coven. Also, we come across some very fascinating points about Aro’s relationship with the “terror twins,” Jane and Alec, ones which might almost make the reader feel sympathy for these, the most horrific of vampires.

• Character histories

The bulk of Stephenie Meyer’s Guide is a series of individual character backstories. Even the most passive of names has a tale all his or her own, and Meyer has painstakingly provided the goodies on each. Of course, the most beloved ones in the Saga are no exception, and the backstories provided on those like Jasper and Alice prove particularly heartbreaking. For Twilight fans who just can’t get enough of these characters, the backstories section is undoubtedly a first-stop in reading The Guide.
